Google Will Be Tracking Surfers Who View AdSense Ads

From time to time, I question the wisdom of making most of my money online from AdSense. I had cause to question it again this past week after seeing Barry Schwartz’s post on Search Engine Land, Google To Add AdSense Features With DoubleClick Cookies Technology.

Basically, Google is now going to be tracking which sites you visit on the net (at least the ones that have AdSense), using the technology they got when they bought the DoubleClick ad network. They are going to use this capability to control how many times you see certain ads, among other things.

Sorry For Not Posting, and All That…

I usually don’t like those posts apologizing for not posting, but… it has been so long since I posted that I thought I should say something before I jump back into this blog.

So, first I stepped back a little from this blog to work more on my other niche blogs, since they were earning most of my money, but soon after that, I got hit with a lot of personal challenges, so I have not actually done much online at all in the last couple of months. I am just starting to get back to work on my online business now. Things are still a little crazy in my life, but they have settled down enough to get back to work.

Affiliate Money

Do you want to make money as an affiliate? I have already written about how to find affiliate programs to promote. Today I want to talk about how to promote these affiliate programs on a blog.

First, here’s what not to do. It is not enough to just put up an ad or a link to the product in your sidebar. You might get some curiosity clicks on the link this way, but you won’t get many sales.

I joined Entrecard on February 4th. I had seen it on a few blogs and was curious what it was. When I saw it on ProBlogger, my curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to sign up.

So now it’s been a little over a week since I signed up, so I thought it was time to share my experiences with you.

No, I didn’t actually increase my number of RSS subscribers that quickly… but I did increase the little number in the Feedburner chicklet by that much! How did I do that? Well, read on…

If you were watching my blog, you would not have seen this jump. I don’t show the Feedburner chicklet on my blog, because I want to wait until I get 1,000 subscribers before I show it again – something to shoot for. ;)

Blog Traffic Jump Start – Is It Better With Bonuses?

January 16, 2008
Get More Traffic

I like to think that my book about getting traffic to your blog, Blog Traffic Jump Start, can stand on its own.

But then, maybe I’m biased. ;)

So, I decided to add a few bonuses to the package, to see if it improves conversion rates. I have heard two different things – that bonuses don’t matter, and that they do matter. So I thought I’d test it.

Did you know that, for a small price, you can find out what keywords are sending the most traffic to your competitors?

I have been re-reading Aaron Wall’s SEO Book, since I have not read it for a while, and he just released an updated version. It is really nice that he gives purchasers of his book free updates. It’s a great reference book for SEO and other internet business topics.

ALT Tag For Images Can Bring More Visitors From Google

December 8, 2007

Do you want your images to be found easily by searchers? A popular image can help increase your search engine traffic considerably.

I posted an article about getting more traffic with images a while ago.

Now Matt Cutts of Google has produced a video explaining how Google uses the ALT tag to figure out what an image is about.
